Bus Service

Farringtons has a small fleet of minibuses which currently cover seven routes for pupils in Years 1-13. Pupils are picked up in the mornings and returned after school in the afternoons. Collection times are approximate and dependent upon traffic, but the driver will ensure that the minibus does not depart any earlier than the designated pick up time.

We do our best to ensure pick up/drop off points are as close to home as possible, but this is not always achievable and new pupils to the service may have to make their way to an existing pick up point. Please note that the School reserves the right to change routes as necessary.

Whilst we always try to accommodate as many pupils as possible but we cannot guarantee places on our Minibuses until the beginning of the new academic year. Therefore, we advise parents that they should not accept a place at Farringtons if they hope to rely on the Minibus Service for travel to and from school.

The service is very popular and nearly all of the routes are full for the current academic year. If you would like to add your child’s name to the waiting list, please email Mr Vince Grima vgrima@farringtons.kent.sch.uk

Safety

Our friendly drivers are experienced and checked through the Disclosure & Barring Service. They all carry mobile phones in case of emergencies or unexpected changes in circumstances.

Drivers register pupils and ensure that they all wear seatbelts throughout the journey.

Any Year 1 – 6 pupils will be escorted to and from the Junior School and a safe meeting point will be arranged for Senior pupils. All pupils will be assisted on and off the bus as necessary.

Code of Conduct

Pupils are expected to behave themselves on the bus, have respect for fellow passengers and obey instructions from the driver at all times.

Cost

This is a non-profit making venture. The current cost is £27.00 per pupil per week or £13.50 per week if the service is only used in the mornings or afternoons. Fees are added to the school account, unless alternative arrangements are agreed.

Unfortunately, there can be no refunds for missed journeys.

Cancellation Notice

Half a term’s notice is required if you no longer wish to use the service. For the service to be cost effective and for the routes to be suitable, parents are asked to commit to either five mornings, five afternoons or five full days.
