PRE-RECEPTION
Firstly, it has been a packed few days in Pre-Reception. We had a delicious Christmas lunch on Tuesday and the children all looked amazing in their Christmas jumpers.
PHONICS
Moving on to Phonics, we have taught the children to recognise the ‘m’ phoneme (sound) and to pronounce this correctly. We have taught the children ‘Put your lips together and make the mmmmm sound.’
RECEPTION
It has been another fun, glitter filled week in Reception.Â
LiteracyÂ
In terms of Literacy, the children have completed various Christmas themed activities this week, including making Christmas biscuits by following the instructions of a recipe. Â They attempted to write their own biscuit recipes using their phonic and tricky word knowledge. Additionally, the children have been very interested in the nativity story and we have revisited this over the week.Â
MathsÂ
Similarly, in Maths, we have been consolidating our maths knowledge from the term with Christmas themed activities. Furthermore, we have also revisited addition.Â
Expressive arts and designÂ
As for Expressive arts and design, it has been a very busy week in our creative area. For instance, we have been making Christmas trees, Christmas cards, and painted the decorations we made last week. To conclude, we all enjoyed our Christmas lunch on Tuesday, and the children looked smashing in their Christmas jumpers!
